BENT POLICEMAN

Tired, off beat,
his thief’s eye
straightens, penetrates the target
and he steals forgetfully.
At dawn he dons his helmet,
pleases pensioners, slowed by old-age rackets,
sweeps courts with criminal respectabilities

he enters momentarily, to straighten -
buckled brightly.
